This past February 24th, BDLA assisted in Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition’s annual stakeholder awards meeting. Several official representatives and private companies were present at the event. The Broward County Transit (the public transit agency in Broward County, Florida also known as BCT) was awarded the Clean Cities Champion Award. They have consistently increased alternative fuel use in the county, are tremendous supporters of the program, and strive to provide cleaner air quality to residents. Brickell Energy was awarded the EV Excellence Award for its dedication and hard work in providing EV infrastructure within the region.
The Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition is a public-private partnership composed of local government and private sector representatives. Designated in 1994 by the US Department of Energy, the role of the Coalition is to provide a fuel-neutral policy direction to maximize the use of vehicles operating on clean, alternative fuels throughout the region of Broward, Miami-Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties. Stakeholders assist in a broad range of activities, including fleet conversions to alternative fuels like natural gas or biodiesel, idle reduction education, and assistance to the general public in understanding mobility options like electric transportation.
For more than 25 years the Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition has worked with Coalition partners, coalitions across the country and the U.S. Department of Energy to further the nation’s energy independence and economic security. The Coalition leverages the expertise and investments of its members to build partnerships that advance affordable domestic transportation fuels, energy-efficient mobility systems, and other fuel-saving technologies and practices.
The Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition provides many opportunities to participate and make a difference in Southeast Florida. Consider making choices that will reduce your dependence on petroleum fuels.
BDLA takes high pride in being formally invited to be part of the Southeast Florida Clean Cities Coalition stakeholders, and the Company plans to be a very active member of this prestigious committee.
